Some consider Macromedia Dreamweaver to be the most popular authoring tool used by professional web developers. Macromedia recently stated that there are over 700,000 registered Dreamweaver users.

The Dreamweaver Workspace
The Dreamweaver development environment is comprised of a number of menus, windows, and panels. In Dreamweaver MX, these are grouped together in the Dreamweaver workspace.

Productivity Features
Dreamweaver offers some handy productivity features, including

• the ability to edit the HTML and
  the web page document side by side
• access to reference material
• automatic generation of JavaScript for
  commonly used interactivity
• easy generation of Flash text and Flash buttons p
• publishing using built-in FTP.

Dreamweaver can be used to keep track of web page files and even automatically change links when you rename or move files within your Dreamweaver web site, called a Dreamweaver site.
